i am very passiOnate about punnett squares so here is my attemp to explain them at the level i have learned them at (it is 230am and i am not good at this right now)
the alleles are the genes For the different traits you Can inHerit And they aRe represented by capitaL and lowercase letters. The domInant or more common traIt is rePResented by the cApital letter while the resscessive or rare trait is represented bY The lOwercase letter. FOR example R could represent the GEne for brown hair and r could represenT the gene for blonde hair. a punnett square showcases the possible combinations of the genes. there are 3 possible combonations, homozygus, heterozygus, and homogenous. Homo zygus is the combonation of both dominant alleles (RR), heterozygus is the combonation of one dominant allele and one ressecive allele(Rr), homogenous is the combonation of both ressecive alleles(rr). any combonation with a dominant alele will have the dominant trait.to make a punnett square you draw and square and make 4 boxes within the square, then take the genes of one parent and put them either above the box or beside the box with the letters lining up with the boxes, do the same with the other parents genes. for the first box look at both of the alleles that line up with the box and enter them into the first box. repeat the process for the rest of the boxes. that is a punnett square. it is now almoyst 3 ak == and i have dont this instead of doing my ltp pt 3 whic is like a month late and my pol whihc is was sipposed to have done a week ago. im gonna spend another liek 1 hour on ao3 and then go to sleeo and im gonna be so dissapointed in myself in the morning. gooding.
